My client based in Brixham is seeking a Foundry Maintenance Engineer to join their team due to expansion.





Company Summary



My client is a well-established Iron foundry based in Brixham, Devon. They have been manufacturing Iron casting up to 1000kgs from its current site since 1948, it’s origins however can be traced back to before the war. Their flexible production methods enable them to produce a wide range of castings from pumps to compressors and clutch housings to filter casings but specialising in manufacturing rotary valves and diverters for the powder and bulk handling industries.





Role Summary



We are looking for a Foundry Maintenance Engineer who will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all foundry equipment and facilities. This role ensures the continuous and efficient operation of machinery and systems, minimising downtime and maximising productivity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as experience in a foundry or similar industrial environment.



Candidates will need to have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree). You will also need to have demonstrable maintenance experience in a foundry or similar industrial environment.



The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems. Experience of working with PLCs, automation systems and industrial control systems would be an advantage.



Responsibilities




  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on foundry equipment, including furnaces, molds, casting machines, and other related machinery.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatics and hydraulic issues, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment lifespan and reduce unplanned downtime.

  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure machinery and equipment are operating at peak efficiency.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.

  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.

  • Manage inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.

  • Provide technical support and training to other maintenance staff and operators.

  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve maintenance processes and reduce costs.

  • Candidates must be physically fit and have the ability to lift and move parts and equipment.

  • Monday to Thursday – 7:00am – 4:00pm

  • Friday – 7:00am – 12:00pm
