Full Stack Developer Salary: £37,000 - £45,000 (based on experience)Location: Fully remote (UK-based) with occasional travelContract: Fixed-term until 31st March 2025, with possible extensionHours: 35 hours per weekAbout the Role:We are seeking a Full Stack Developer to enhance and maintain a key biodiversity data platform in the UK. The role involves improving internal applications, coding, and collaborating with a small, remote team. Key skills include OOP, MVC frameworks, REST web services, and JavaScript.Requirements:Strong problem-solving and communication skillsAbility to work independently and on complex projectsYou’ll need extensive experience in full stack coding skills and be happy to get stuck in doing a bit of everything (polyglot style), with experience as follows:-Object Oriented Programming-MVC frameworks (ideally Jakarta EE/Spring/Grails but would consider .NET/ Django)-Rest Web Services-ORM such as Hibernate-Working knowledge of Linux-MySQL or PostgreSQL-JavaScript, jQuery, CSSKey Responsibilities:Implementing enhancements and project work, associated websites, and API. The work to be undertaken includes the development of new or improved functionality to meet the needs of data managers and a wide variety of external stakeholders, together with front-end enhancements to improve the user experience. Working with colleagues to understand the scope of the work and for testing and deployment.Creating and maintaining comprehensive and accurate documentation.Participating in work planning and management meetings with the Lead Developer and other colleagues as applicable and keeping work planning tools (e.g. Jira) complete and up to date.Contributing to the identification and solution of issues, and the continuous improvement of the application, associated websites and API.Representing the Developer team at internal meetings as appropriate, updating colleagues on work priorities, progress and change.Participating in team-wide meetings and activities, including staff meetings.Benefits:Flexible, remote working28 days of leave per year, plus UK bank holidaysPension plan contributions up to 7%Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on nature conservationApplicants must be UK-based and eligible to work in the UK.
