Role: Functional Safety Engineer

Location: Remote, Home Based with Travel to client sites

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Rolling contract

Rate: �750 - �850 P/day

IR35: OUTSIDE

We are currently working with a client who is a leading innovator in automation and digitalization. They are looking for Functional Safety support on an Ad hoc basis, looking to call on a contractors expertise to support on projects for the foreseeable future.

This is not your typical Mon-Fri opportunity and would be perfect for a Ltd Co. who already has a portfolio of work ongoing.

About the role:

  • Conduct on-site audits to produce risk assessment, safety concept, safety design, verification and validation reports,
  • Carry out technical file assessment against the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and relevant CE marking requirements,
  • Provide engineering documents for the construction of a technical file,
  • Perform stop time measurement test in accordance with EN ISO 13855,
  • Performance Level or SIL verification using Safety Evaluation Tool (SET) or SISTEMA.

Desired qualification:

  • Extensive experience in machinery safety and functional safety, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment,
  • Strong knowledge of regulations such as Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and PUWER 1998,
  • Strong knowledge of relevant safety standards such as EN ISO 12100, EN ISO (phone number removed), EN IEC 62061, EN (phone number removed),
  • Experience in conducting risk assessment, safety concept, safety design, verification and validation,
  • Working knowledge of safety applications, integration and automation,
  • Ability to review Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic schematics,
  • Recognised FSEng qualification,
  • Willing to travel across the UK up to 60%.
