Functional Skills Tutor
Salary: up to £30,000

We are looking to recruit dedicated individuals who want to make a difference and have a passion for teaching Maths and English to learners.
The Role
As a Functional Skills Tutor you will be responsible for engagingwith a caseload of apprenticeship learners, identified by the Operations Manager and functional Skills Manager as requiring specialised and focussed support in English and Maths, and acting as a trouble-shooter to ensure timely completion of Functional Skills qualifications in line with the curriculum approach.
You will deliver progressive teaching, learning and assessment visits with every learner on your caseload, every month, using coaching techniques combined with experiential learning to drive sustained changes in their Maths and English knowledge and skills.
You will ensure that Functional Skills are delivered in line with a detailed curriculum approach for each qualification and support, motivate and encourage your learners to achieve their Functional Skills at the relevant level.
You will have a clear set of KPIs and will manage your own diary to ensure you achieve these.
You will support learners who find Maths and English the most challenging across our Apprenticeship provision.

Essential Criteria
Ability to communicate with learners at all levels, breaking down learning into simple, manageable and relatable sessions
Ability to engage learners who are resistant to Functional Skills, building confidence in their ability to achieve
Confidence to engage with, and challenge, employers when learner engagement is lacking
To have successfully completed L2 in maths and English
To have an excellent understanding of legacy and reformed Functional Skills
To have experience in teaching, learning and assessment within apprenticeships
To have excellent understanding and application of wide-ranging IT skills
To effectively use data and reports to improve deliveryof Functional Skills
Excellent planning and organisation skills
Desirable Criteria
To be working at L3 in maths and English
To hold D32/33/A1/CAVA or equivalent
To hold PTLLS or L3 Award in Education and Training
To hold a qualification in or have relevant work experience supporting ESOL learners
Additional Information
A laptop and mobile phone will be provided for you.
