Funding Officer
Location: Belfast BT7 2JD (Hybrid/Remote options available) - first 2 weeks training office based.
Working Hours: Flexible, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm / 8am - 4pm
Pay: �12 - �13 per hour (dependent on experience) + Travel expenses paid
Contract Length: Temporary until March 2024
Start Date: Immediate
About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in assessing funding requests, managing grants, and working closely with local communities to drive positive change.
As a Funding Officer, you will be responsible for assessing applications, managing a caseload of projects, and providing advice to organisations to ensure they successfully deliver their projects and achieve measurable impact. This role requires strong communication skills, a solid understanding of the funding landscape, and the ability to manage risks and challenges effectively.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess Funding Requests: Review applications and assess the viability of projects for funding, ensuring alignment with community needs and organisational goals.
  • Grant Management: Oversee the grant process from application to delivery, ensuring projects are on track and funds are used effectively.
  • Caseload Management: Manage your own caseload of funded projects, liaising with grant recipients and providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Project Visits: Undertake regular visits to project sites to assess progress, offer advice, and monitor outcomes.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks associated with projects and work proactively with organisations to mitigate them.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with stakeholders, helping them connect with the right resources to achieve their goals.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Curiosity & Understanding: A keen interest in the funding sector and a commitment to understanding the needs of local communities.
  • Customer Service: A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service to both stakeholders and grant recipients.
  • Financial Acumen: Ability to analyse financial data, review business plans, and identify potential risks.
  • Community-Oriented: A strengths-based approach to working with individuals and organisations to overcome challenges.
  • Social Policy Knowledge: Understanding of the social policy landscape and the role of third-sector organisations.
  • Communication Skills: Confidence in presenting information to external audiences and stakeholders.
  • Learning & Development: Ability to learn from funded projects and share insights for the benefit of the wider organisation.
