The below job description will outline this position of: General Manager





Typically, this person will be overseeing ship management, ensuring vessels meet top operational, regulatory, and contractual standards in the UK and internationally.

Duties and responsibilities of the General Manager:




  • Employee Management: Recruit, train, and coach staff while delegating tasks effectively.

  • Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, monitor expenses, and drive cost efficiency.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and company policies.

  • Operational Management: Oversee vessel performance, maintenance, and spare parts management.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with internal/external partners on technical and operational matters.

  • Fleet Oversight: Monitor vessel safety, environmental compliance, and technical standards.

  • Docking & Maintenance: Plan, review, and oversee dry dock projects and budget alignment.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify efficiencies, control costs, and ensure business viability.

  • Strategic Planning: Align fleet management with Class, Flag State, and company requirements.



Qualifications and requirement for the General Manager:




  • This would suit someone from the Marine, Oil & Gas or Shipping industry.

  • strong mechanical and electrical technical background would be an advantage.

  • Defence and Commercial experience and knowledge in ship management activities in the UK and internationally.

  • Managing employees: Recruiting, hiring, training, and coaching employees.

  • Able to make strategic decisions.

  • Managing platforms and using tools such as Microsoft Office.
