GENERATOR ENGINEER – ELECTRICAL BIAS





RESPONSIBLE TO: Installations and Project Manager





WORKING HOURS: Basic 37.5 hours Plus Overtime (Which may involve out of hours working)



(Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm, Friday 8.30am to 2.30pm)





SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience and qualifications





LOCATION: Greater Manchester, Liverpool area, Chester, Yorkshire(Huddersfield/Barnsley Only)





ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:            



17th Edition 2391 Inspection and Testing



City & Guilds ONC, BTEC ONC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent



City & Guilds IEE 17th Edition Regs





Where an operative can, subject to confirmation, demonstrate exceptional practical site supervisory skills and has the relevant experience the requirements for formal qualifications set our may be varied.





ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:                   




  • Minimum 5 year experience as time served electrician

  • Knowledge of most economical and effective layout of electrical installations

  • Ability of achieve high level of productivity

  • Good working knowledge of diesel driven Generator Sets and control systems

  • Sound technical knowledge and testing experience of electro/mechanical and electronic protection devices

  • Experience and understanding of PLC’s and Microprocessor based control systems

  • Knowledge and experience of working on HV/LV switchgear up to and including 11kv (desirable)





JOB SUMMARY:




  • Working with the service team to include hands on maintenance, installation, service and repair to a varied range of diesel driven generating sets and associated equipment.

  • Client liaison on site, ensuring all the correct tools and equipment (spares and materials) necessary to undertake the work.

  • Carrying out work to an excellent standard and completing/returning all relevant paperwork in a neat and timely manner.

  • Working at various sites throughout mainland UK.





KEY TASKS:




  • Carry out pre-planned service and maintenance visits, site visits, and emergency call outs ensuring fault diagnosis.

  • Installation of new generators and switchgear

  • Ensure all identified problems and causes for concern are reported to Manager immediately and recorded.

  • Ensure spares or materials are compiled in good time for work assigned

  • Ensure have adequate hand tools to carry out duties

  • When not travelling, will be required to assist with general workshop duties

  • Carry out on-call responsibilities on a rota basis
