UTEC are currently looking to source a Geotechnical Project Manager on a full time, permanent basis. Based at their facility in Aberdeen or Livingston, the Project Manager will be responsible for the effective planning and smooth execution of assigned projects whilst ensuring high QHSE standard, cost effectiveness and good utilisation of available resources. Focus on Site Characterisation projects within the UTEC business, reporting to the Site Characterisation Lead. Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with the company Integrated Management System (IMS), monitor all matters related to Occupational Health, Working Safety and Environmental.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsibility in performing and supervising geotechnical site characterization activities for offshore projects.
- Input to tendering process with the best method of site investigation to meet clients' objectives, allocating resources including equipment and personnel, authoring technical parts of proposals, method statements, schedules, procedures.
- Production of Mobilization Plan, including vessel deck layout, lift plans, equipment installation and testing plans.
- Field ops planning and sourcing of project equipment and consumables.
- Production of the project documentation set as per ISO 19901:#####: Project Execution Plan, Quality Plan, Task Plan, Emergency Response Plan.
- Production of project HSE documentation: HAZID/HAZOP, HIRA, MOC.
- Control, manage and QA/QC offshore operations.
- Keep track of project expenses and running budget throughout the entire life span of assigned project.
- Project Manager will be required to produce monthly project accounting including project running profitability, revenue, and forecast.
- Cooperate with Crewing team to ensure right personnel assigned for the project.
- Instruct logistics on project shipments, draft CIPLs, support logistic dept and freighter to ensure timely freights for mobilization and demobilization.
- Lead reporting team in Geotechnical Reports Volume 1, 2 and 3 according to ISO 19901 (Field, Factual and Interpretative reports respectively).
- Undertake work activities safely and to high standard.
- Work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team to solve problems.
- Liaison with clients, third-party suppliers, contractors, marine vessel owner and operators including dispute resolution and project objectives achievement.
- Always ensure project acquired data and results adhere to customer's defined specifications and objectives.
- Undertake agreed training and development to provide a framework of knowledge and skills required to perform effectively in UTEC.
- Participate in annual and regular performance appraisal with Line Manager identifying and agreeing personal development and action plans.
Requirements
- Minimum MS / BS degree in related field and minimum 10 years relevant experience within the offshore survey industry.
- Experience executing and or managing vessel based geotechnical and geophysical project is preferred.
- You will need to demonstrate competency in geotechnical site investigation methods, equipment, standards, and practices.
- Advanced skills of liaison with clients and subcontractors, including dispute resolution.
- Field/operational experience and familiarity with geotechnical tools (e.g., CPT, coring and sampling systems, laboratory testing and equipment, etc.)
- Competency in deck operations, lifting operations and machinery, ability to produce geotechnical method statement and deck layout.
- Excellent geotechnical reporting skills in preparing borehole/CPT logs, tabular data, narrative reporting, graphical and ground model.
- Experience with following software: MS Office, gINT, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, QGIS, Global Mapper.
- Practical knowledge of ground investigation, soil properties. derived in lab and in-situ, ability to interpret soil characteristics.
- Knowledge of surface and subsea positioning used in Geotechnical Site Investigation.
- Knowledge of geophys methods and interpretation is an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of industry standards such as ISO, BS, ASTM.
- Awareness of health and safety/QHSE standards in the energy/offshore industry
