Our client is looking for a Glasshouse Grower to join their team in the Chichester area.
In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day growing, yield increase and monitoring of the crops to maximise production of the growing area.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
* Ensure all work carried out is completed with full Health and Safety awareness.
* To have an ongoing awareness of Risk Assessments, near-miss reporting culture and training.
* Delivery of high-quality crops all year round.
* Management of daily Irrigation and Fertigation strategies.
* Management of the daily glasshouse growing environment including temperature, humidity and CO2 control.
* Regular crop walks, monitoring all settings and growing environments to ensure optimum crop health and performance at all times.
* Biological control monitoring, ordering process and tracking.
* Be an active part of the growing team supporting operations as required.
* Along with the Glasshouse Manager, make a detailed plan of all jobs required on a rolling weekly basis.
* During harvest, carry out regular field checks highlighting any potential issues, these will include fruit quality, harvest intervals, stage of the crop, weather conditions, fruit size and fruit presentation.
Ideally, you will have:
* Relevant growing experience in a commercial Glasshouse environment.
* Knowledge and confidence to make independent decisions on a day-to-day basis and the ability to take responsibility for such decisions is a key requirement.
* A keen eye for detail is also essential.
* The ideal candidate must have a flexible approach in order to meet the business demands of a fast-paced growing environment.
* Excellent communication skills are essential with an ability to act confidently in a busy and demanding environment.
* Willing to undertake professional training to develop individual knowledge and qualifications
Please note that a clean UK/EU Driving Licence is required for the role and working days will not be only Monday to Friday, flexibility on working hours, including weekends and Bank Holidays is required.
The start date for the role is expected to be early November.
For this role, our client is willing to pay up to �41,000 per annum depending on experience.
