Global Head of IT, Infrastructure and DevOps

The Energy One delivers applications and services to assist participants in the wholesale energy sector operating and trading energy.Energy One teams are distributed widely in Australia, France, Belgium, and UK. The team works on more than 17 products, all at a different stage of their life cycle. Energy One trading desks operate in Europe and Australia.Energy is key for growth, and mastering energy is paramount to reach net zero.The energy industry in Europe is moving fast with 2 concurrent trends:The increase of renewable energy and its unpredictability, operated by increasingly small actors, leads to high market volatility. This volatility creates opportunities for energy traders.The price cap in most countries limits the revenue of energy retailers, so they need to widen their capabilities and increase their efficiency to surviveThese players rely on some efficient systems to operate. If the system fails, a domino effect starts that could soon lead to big problems for companies and houses.Energy One is providing systems to a very large part the market, which makes it an essential player of this global energy market. In UK, Energy One covers 12% of the market . In Europe, eZ-Ops is the market leader. In Australia, Energy One is the historic Market leader.In order to keep on with the market trends (more players, more traders and trades, more volatility), Energy One needs to provide the best platforms, with reliable, scalable, secure and agile foundations.To achieve this, we are gathering some teams, and creating a global team, that will include all IT, infrastructure and DevOps teams of EnergyOne in Australia, Belgium, France and UK. This team will support the tech and product teams, who develop 17 products, mostly SaaS, all critical for their clients.The challenges the team is facing now are the following:Collaboration inside the team: Build and operate global and local IT, infrastructure and DevOps projects and systems as “one team”Proximity with the business, especially 24/7 operations, and development teamsSecurity while moving to the cloud (Azure and AWS)Efficiency thanks to automation (Infra as Code, support automation, system admin scripting, integration with business tools)Reliability while scaling the platform for the growing customer base.24/7 IT Support to internal and external usersFinOps: Find the best balance between costs and performance.We are looking for the Leader of this team to concur these challenges.The team is a total of 14 people across the globe. We seek to be inventive and deliver impactful technology, processes and relationships.Main ResponsibilitiesThe responsibility of the role covers the following worldwide:Teams: IT support & projects, System Admin, Network engineers, DevOps engineers.Hardware: Laptops, Servers, Network equipment, Firewalls, etc., on-prem and in the cloudLicences and subscription: Clouds, M365, Monitoring tools, CI/CD software, co-ownership with the CISO of the security tooling (SIEM)The main responsibilities are the following:Animate the global IT, Infrastructure and DevOps vision with the team.With the team, decide on the right IT tech stack, tools and plan to reach the vision.Lead and mentor the team of managers and leads. You will provide technical and managerial guidance, support, and foster a collaborative and high-performance culture to ensure the successful execution of projects and the good operation of support.Listen and collaborate with your peers, the Heads of Tech of UK, France, Australia, and Belgium to make sure their developers and QAs always have the best level of tooling, support and service from your team.Manage your teams in deploying Agile methodologies and continuous improvement, with the help of our Agile Coach.Manage the teams who will:Respond to incidents on mission critical systems for some ensuring the platform remains secure and highly available and minimising client and market impact.Manage the SLAs of the support teams, improvement plans and associated KPIsManage and optimize the production, QA, and development environments to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of our software products.Design and implement robust monitoring systems that proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and system failures.Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, to streamline deployment processes and improve operational efficiency.Drive improvements to the platform and tooling used to best technologies to deliver a reliable, secure and performance platform.Automate and streamline our CI/CD pipelines to ensure robust quick builds and deployments.Drive the adoption of new technologies within the business to help improve the reliability, performance, scalability and security of the tools and platform we operate.Qualifications and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and mentor a team towards achieving goals.Proven experience in IT, infrastructure and DevOps Management or similar role, preferably in a software development or SaaS environment.Advanced knowledge of Azure Cloud and / or AWS and Containerisation technologies, strong experience in system admin and/or network admin.Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on driving solutions in a timely manner.Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.Relevant certifications such as Cloud certifications, DevOps certifications, or industry-specific certifications are advantageous.BenefitsSolihull or Paris location, modern offices with great amenitiesWork with colleagues in different countries and cultures in a diverse company.Hybrid RoleGood remuneration packageHigh levels of autonomyOpportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and technologies.If you want to be part of a dynamic and innovative team at Energy One, click on ‘Quick Apply’.Energy One promotes diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity.Please note unsuccessful applicants will not be individually contacted.
