Graduate Engineer Opportunity Location: Newry, Northern Ireland Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum *Must have UK Driving License* We are seeking a dynamic Graduate Engineer to join our client's team based in Newry, Northern Ireland, combining project delivery responsibilities with gaining valuable experience and training over a one-year development period. Upon successful completion, you will progress to a Project Engineer role. Main Duties and Responsibilities As a Graduate Engineer, you will support project teams to secure new business and deliver projects through the following activities: Adhering to health and safety, quality, and environmental management systems. Reviewing contract documents, POs, project plans, and specifications, providing comments when applicable. Coordinating with departments and Project Engineers/Managers to meet task deadlines and prioritising staff workload. Scheduling and conducting project review meetings, focusing on contract terms, scope, cost, construction, and scheduling. Reporting project status to the Project Manager while adhering to policies and safety procedures. Communicating promptly with stakeholders regarding project schedules and issues. Performing varied duties reflecting the small team flexibility at our location. Additional Responsibilities Complying with company procedures when committing to agreements. Representing the company professionally at all times. Setting up schedules for timely submission and completion of project-related documents. Overseeing project progress through regular meetings with the supply chain, subcontract team, and client representatives. Maintaining customer contact, advising on progress, and responding to contract-related queries. Preparing progress reports and updating construction programs before client meetings. Attending contractual meetings in the UK and Ireland if required. Maintaining an effective system of contract management. Monitoring and reporting contract variations and warranty claims. Producing reports on recurring warranty problems for the Technical department. Training, Experience, and Development Responsibilities Scheduling development requirements with the Project Manager to gain knowledge and experience for the Project Engineer role. Conducting quarterly reviews to demonstrate progress in personal development. Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities Promoting health and safety performance. Supervising supply chain and subcontract teams on site. Assisting in developing a Construction Phase Plan. Managing site mobilisation and induction for visitors. Reviewing RAMS and controlling material delivery to the site. Ensuring subcontract teams adhere to site rules and regulations. Education, Training, and Experience Engineering Degree (2:1 or above). Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or project management environment. Health and safety training knowledge. Communication Skills Ability to read, analyse, and interpret complex industry-related documents. Effectively respond to technical and commercial issues. Prepare and communicate status reports. Present work reports and proposals to an experienced audience. Decision Making and Problem Solving Ability to make decisions using various variables in standard situations. Additional Skills and Abilities Proficiency in Teams, Word, Excel, Project, and other MS Office programs. Ability to use IT and ERP systems rapidly. Advanced mathematical skills for complex situations. Ability to read and understand specifications, fabrication, and engineering drawings. Rapid knowledge acquisition of clean and wastewater treatment processes. Adaptability within a small, multi-disciplined team. CAD experience. Understanding of commercial terms and contract law. Work Environment Work environments include office, workshop, yard premises, supply chain premises, and operational and construction sites within the water industry.
