Job Title: Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEMH)
Location: Newcastle
Salary Range: £87 - £108 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Daily Supply, Long-term

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for education and a desire to make a difference in the lives of students? If so, GSL Education are looking for a Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEMH) to join a supportive school environment in Newcastle.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to students, helping them overcome challenges and thrive academically and emotionally. This role focuses on working with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, offering both daily supply and long-term contract opportunities.

Responsibilities of the Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEMH):


  • Work closely with teachers to support students with SEMH needs in both group and one-on-one settings.
  • Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
  • Foster positive relationships with students to support their social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with school staff and external professionals to ensure student well-being.

Requirements of the Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEMH):


  • A recent degree in any subject (Education, Psychology, or related fields preferred).
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to working with young people.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
