Job Title: Ground Maintenance Technician

Location: Carmarthenshire

Purpose of the Role

We are currently seeking a Ground Maintenance Technician . to carry out effective ground works on our ground-mounted sites, helping to maintain production levels and adhere to planning regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ground maintenance works of solar farms, including grass cutting, hedge cutting, spraying, strimming, civils, and vegetation removal.
  • Undertake solar panel cleaning using a specifically designed tractor-mounted rotating brush and pressurised water system.
  • Perform emergency or planned trenching, digging, fence repairs, and other manual tasks to assist Field Service Engineers with site repairs and alterations.
  • Produce digital photographic reports confirming work completion and addressing any issues.
  • Manage priorities based on local ground and weather conditions, following good practice.
  • Liaise with the Planning Team, Regional Manager, Landlords, and other Third Parties to ensure timely and efficient work completion.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines.
  • Perform basic upkeep of ground maintenance equipment.
  • Make recommendations for tasks required to best manage the solar sites.
  • Be able to stay away overnight when requested (accommodation and expenses will be paid for).

Previous experience in Ground Maintenance, land management, or agriculture is essential.

Essential:

  • Full UK driving license.
  • Trailer license.
  • Tractor driving experience.
  • PA1, PA6, PA2 certifications.
  • Strimmer and brush cutter experience/certificate.
  • Good IT skills and confidence in Microsoft Office and use of a tablet computer.
  • Experience using heavy-duty flails.

Desirable:

  • Chainsaw License.
  • Excavator license.

General Skills/Attributes:

  • Good, professional communicator on telephone and via email.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team and confident working solo. Majority of time will be spent working unaccompanied, so self-motivation and communication with colleagues are key.
  • Use of initiative and organised when forward planning workload.
  • Good time management.
  • Problem-solving and can-do attitude.
  • Proficient in the use of smartphone apps, emails, and able to quickly pick up computer systems.
  • Willingness to stay away over multiple nights when needed.

Education and Qualifications

Minimum GCSEs or similar experience in a previous role.
