Specialist Litigation Firm
Group Litigation
Associate 2-3PQE
London
This leading commercial litigation and disputes resolution law firm are recognised as one of the UK's leading specialists in group litigation and class actions. They act in complex, large-scale commercial cases. The group litigation team have an enviable track record of leading successful group litigation and an unrivalled reputation in originating and securing funding for innovative claims.
The team is growing and as such we are looking for a junior-mid level associate to join their busy, collegiate team and play a key role in high-profile cases.
The successful candidate will work on a variety of cases, however, their initial focus will be on the firm's Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) Group Claim, a large-scale legal action on behalf of over 500,000 consumers. You will have a critical role, working closely with senior associates, counsel and partners on this landmark case. This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the largest group claims in UK legal history and to contribute to a significant consumer rights initiative.
The successful candidate will work in a small, but established, team of associates and senior associates, and will be supported by a strong team of paralegals. There will be a considerable amount of autonomy and responsibility from the outset not only in their fee earning work but through business development activities and promoting the firm.
This role will ideally suit a junior-mid level lawyer (circa 2-3 PQE).
Applicants must have:

  • a breadth of commercial and/or group litigation experience gained within a leading practice;
  • experience of managing a vast amount of correspondence and data;
  • a keen eye for process management;
  • experience of working on cases with minimal day-to-day partner oversight;
  • strong academics with a minimum 2:1 degree;
  • excellent research and analytical skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Exceptional organisational skills;
  • genuine interest in progressing their career in collective actions.

The following additional experience/skills would be an advantage but are not a pre-requisite:

  • knowledge of consumer litigation;
  • experience of collective actions involving multiple claimants;
  • experience of funders/insurers and knowledge of contingency fee arrangements.

Please apply as directed or confidentially contact Aidan McAvinue at Search Legal for more information. Alternatively, if this role is not for you, I am working a variety of other litigation opportunities with ranked teams in the City of London so would be interested to talk to any litigation lawyer.

Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age.
