This permanent role offers the opportunity to engage in critical systems engineering activities, supporting the Royal Navy in various capacities including requirements development, integration, and ship support visits. Specialising in SSAMS supported products like METOC, VSS, and AGMA, this position will allow you to play a pivotal role within a highly skilled engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
- General hardware engineering activities across the engineering lifecycle
- Serving as the point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas, resolving complex problems and maintaining awareness of priorities and objectives
- Making engineering decisions within assigned responsibilities and delegated authority
- Maintaining a level of SQEP through personal and professional development
- Producing technical reports, plans, and presenting information to management and peers
- Delivering allocated tasks within budget and to agreed timescales
Job Requirements:
Essential:
- Engaging in hardware engineering activities including helpdesk support, ship support visits, hardware delivery and installation, design activities, integration, and verification & validation
- Ability to handle hardware design and interconnectivity, along with addressing design issues due to obsolescence
- Competence in using hardware engineering tools
- Designing and building electrical and hardware systems to achieve successful acceptance
Desirable:
- A good understanding of the engineering lifecycle
- Knowledge and experience in COTS hardware, preferably with blade and PC technology, and experience with COTS cabinets
