Head of Accounts

Our client is a well known International Shipping company�with its HQ in Basildon, UK.

The group has 13 Offices in 8 Countries and was founded in London in 1952.

They are looking for a suitable candidate as Head of Accounts Department to be based in Basildon.

The ideal candidate has Accounts qualifications and experience in handling UK and International accounts at senior level. It would be advantageous if the candidate has experience in the transport or freight forwarding sector, but this is not essential.

Main tasks to include;�

• Managing all accounts related tasks for the UK and assist the global accounts team.


• Managing all key relationships with the banks, tax compliance advisors, auditors, insurers and key suppliers.


• Managing working capital and planning cash allocations across the group


• Group tax planning and adherence to transfer pricing.


• Managing all financial risks, credit risk, forex risk, interest rate risk, legislation etc.


• Installing new group finance policies, processes, and controls.


• Preparing and reviewing monthly KPIs and financial statements.


• Making recommendations and reviewing actuals to budget and prior year.


• Preparing for group audits.


• Managing/ assisting group secretarial and legal matters.

They are currently using Cargowise, a leading freight forwarding software in the freight forwarding Industry with an integrated accounts package. Experience with this system would be beneficial but not essential.
