Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all airworthiness matters associated with design activities within the Design Organisation.
  • Coordinate airworthiness matters and liaise directly with the CAA for interpretation and decision-making.
  • Administer and update the Design Organisation Handbook, ensuring timely amendments and communication with the CAA.
  • Ensure all procedures specified in the Handbook are current and all design activities comply with approval terms.
  • Record and justify the classification of type-certificate changes and repairs.
  • Carry out technical checking and approval of engineering drawings and accomplishment instructions when required.
  • Act as a Compliance Verification Engineer for compliance documents when necessary.
  • Sign the Declaration of Compliance statement on certification documents.
  • Monitor products of the Design Organisation for continued airworthiness.
  • Provide regular reports to the CAA on design activities.
  • Deputise for the Head of Design regarding airworthiness matters in their absence.
  • Assist the Safety Manager with Safety Management System (SMS) matters.
Job Requirements:
  • Form Four submission to the CAA to demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant Part 21 requirements and company procedures.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Design Office Handbook, certification specification, and airworthiness processes.
  • Strong management skills and the ability to make reliable judgements on technical matters affecting airworthiness.
  • Proficiency in writing technical reports, making presentations, and supporting external interfaces with customers, suppliers, and certification bodies.
  • Confident in presenting at meetings with the CAA and internally.
  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft and aircraft systems design, manufacturing techniques, quality systems, technical publications, and airworthiness requirements.
  • Computer literacy with in-house CAD systems, MS Office, and internet use.
  • Academically qualified to degree or HND level with significant design and certification experience.
