Head of IT - with experience leading and developing application teams is required for a leading specialty insurer in the City of London. This is an essential role for an organisation undergoing a generational technology transformation.

The organisation is a leading specialist insurer based in the City of London, they have a highly prestigious reputation and a very established presence, undergoing a major transformation, updating, and migrating technology, developing low-code platforms, moving towards devops capabilities and a cloud program in Azure.

The Role:

You will join an established IT practice, reporting directly into the organisations CIO. You should already have experience working within an insurance organisation, ideally within specialty lines of insurance. This role will have you responsible for managing the applications teams and in house applications, as well as much of the support teams. You will have led IT teams previously with a good eye for robust code. The organisations applications are written in C#.Net and SQL however you will not be expected to be hands on in this regard.

Ideally you will have led an organisation into Devops adoption and cloud migrations from on prem, providing the organisation the experience they need to help them on this journey. You will have a respect for ITIL processes and should have led some ITIL implementations before.

This role is truly transformative, not only will you be given the opportunity to drive an insurance firm forward into modern, resilient, and robust coding practices, but you will also provide experience to an organisation with high ambitions in cloud and citizen code practices, taking ownership of all the application, software, and support teams.

Required Skills:

• Experience at director level Head of Application Development or Head of IT in a previous organisation
• Prior business knowledge or experience in an Insurance, Reinsurance, specialty or Lloyd's insurance organisation
• Experience leading a business through a cloud program or Azure Devops
• Respect for ITIL based Service Management principles
• Excellent communication abilities to motivate and drive change and transformation.
• Ideally an understanding of C#.Net based applications.
