Woodrow Mercer Healthcare are currently recruiting for a Head of Business Development to support a healthcare provider based in the West Midlands. The right person for the role is a creative person who will be able to lead and innovate in identifying, developing and implementing successful business opportunities and will be a key part of the senior leadership team.Responsibilities:Horizon Scanning: Monitor national, regional, and local healthcare developments, using both hard and soft intelligence, to identify opportunities in the public and private sectors beneficial.Opportunity Prioritization: Develop and prioritize a list of strategic opportunities for sustainability and growth.Bid and Tender Development: Collaborate with the Executive Chair, CEO, Board Finance Group, and senior leadership to create bids and tenders.Stakeholder Representation: Ensure operational staff, cross-departmental staff, and patients/service users contribute to bids and business opportunities.Opportunity Implementation: Plan and execute business development opportunities, coordinating with relevant departments to cover all business aspects, including litigation, technology, finance, and operations.Research and Market Analysis: Conduct research and market analysis on new opportunities, presenting business cases to the CEO, Deputy CEO, and Board Finance Group.Contract Support: Assist operational staff and managers in understanding their contracts, KPIs, and ensuring contract compliance.Internal Relationship Development: Foster positive internal relationships to ensure cross-functional understanding of new and existing business initiatives.Stakeholder Database Management: Maintain a database of contacts, correspondence, and engagements with key stakeholders, evaluating relationship quality to inform strategies and planning.External Relationship Building: Develop and maintain positive relationships with key external stakeholders.Representation: Represent in various settings related to business development, promoting a positive, proactive approach aligned with the Groups aims and objectives.Additional Responsibilities:Commercial Development: Lead the development of commercial products/services.Reporting: Provide regular progress reports on all tenders and bids to senior managers.Line Management: Manage the Communications & Marketing Officer, including HR functions such as appraisals and sickness reviews.Leadership Team: Contribute to the leadership team to ensure delivery of strategic, business, and operational plans.Funding and Partnerships: Support relationship-building and partnership development to pursue funding avenues and new service activities aligned with the companys not-for-profit objectives.Training Support: Assist in management and leadership training to ensure understanding of contract compliance requirements.Performance Standards: Help develop organizational performance standards and a KPI dashboard.Integrity and Respect: Act with integrity, ensuring trustworthy motivations, responding respectfully, and acting constructively.Team Building: Build teams based on respect, integrity, openness, and sharing values, skills, and knowledge.Leadership by Example: Lead by example, applying creative thinking to situations, encouraging others to seek solutions and improvements.Information Provision: Provide accurate, timely, and comprehensive information for monitoring and review processes.On-Call Participation: Participate in the organizational senior management on-call system.Legislative Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of current legislation, policies, practices, and developments relevant to the sector.Briefings: Provide briefings on new service delivery models or opportunities within the sector.Relationship Management: Maintain good working relationships with all stakeholders and influence meetings/events as required.Ambassadorship: Act as an ambassador and promote the companies reputation.Additional Support: Assist senior managers with additional duties as needed.Policy Compliance: Adhere to all organizational policies, especially those related to Financial Probity, Health and Safety, Risk Management, Safeguarding, and Equality and Diversity.If this sounds of interest to you, please get in touch.
