About the Role
Research and External Engagement (REE) is a new integrated service dedicated to driving forward the University’s ambitions for research, innovation, skills, and enterprise. This professional service works to support our students, drive research excellence, upskill and reskill the region's workforce, and strengthen relationships and engagement with our alumni, business, and community partners.
The Civic and Inclusivity team within REE will develop and deliver the University’s civic and social impact ambitions, identifying opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration with regional government, civic, and community partners across research and innovation, employability, enterprise, and skills.
The Head of Civic and Inclusivity will provide strategic leadership to the University’s Civic and Inclusivity team, shaping and advancing UWE Bristol’s priorities for civic engagement and impactful community partnerships, positioning the University as a driving force for positive change in the West of England region.
The Head of Civic and Inclusivity will oversee the development and expansion of a portfolio of projects that align with the University’s academic strengths and inclusivity goals. These initiatives will foster opportunity and enrich the experience of all UWE Bristol students, staff, and our community, reinforcing the University’s commitment to inclusivity, community impact, and excellence.
A member of Research and External Engagement’s Senior Leadership Team, the postholder will actively engage in high-level regional meetings, championing the University’s vision and influence. They will spearhead the growth and enhancement of partnerships with civic and community organisations, identifying strategic opportunities to contribute to the economic, social, environmental, and cultural prosperity of the region.
About You
We are seeking a highly motivated leader with senior-level experience working with regional civic organisations, charities, policymakers, local authorities, and universities. You will have a strong track record of developing impactful partnerships and a passion for driving positive social change and inclusivity.

This is a full-time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week.
This post is available on a job share basis for applicants wishing to work part-time.

This role is therefore campus-based for at least 60 percent of your time, with the opportunity to work from home on the remaining days.
