We are looking to appoint a talented Head of Service to lead our ambitious Development Management (DM) service. The position is advertised on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity for this to be extended or made permanent for the suitable candidate.
As the Head of Development Management, you will report to the Director of Planning and be responsible for the performance of the DM service, providing leadership to the team and ensuring the appropriate determination of planning, related applications and planning enforcement matters. The successful candidate will play a significant role in delivering improvements to the service as part of our ambitious transformation plans.
For this role, you will need a positive, can-do attitude, with a track record of providing excellent leadership to a team of professional planners. You will be at ease with dealing with complex problems and comfortable with working with people from a range of backgrounds and disciplines.

For prospective applicants who are employed by Wiltshire Council, your substantive manager must agree to you transferring to the secondment role. This agreement must be sought in principle before applying for the role on a secondment basis. If the secondment will impact significantly on service delivery, your substantive manager may not agree to the secondment.
