Head of Energy. As the Head of Energy, you will be working for a Local Authority in the West Midlands. This is an interim role initially for 6 months with the potential to extend. Hybrid.We are looking for a candidate who can not only deliver sizeable cash saving but someone who has the skills and experience to develop, build and lead an energy function for a large organisation. Responsible for the development of the function, managing an assistant and in due course building a team of officers, managing a multi-million pound utilities budget and the development and delivery of the net zero carbon strategy.Lead on the analysis of current practice including benchmarking against models and options. As a result, lead the development and delivery of a strategic approach (an energy strategy roadmap) to resource planning, utilities procurement (electricity, gas and water) commissioning and contract management in order to deliver a cost-effective and efficient service and immediately realise savings (reducing waste, ensuring full corporate contract coverage and centralised administration). The successful candidate should have:An energy engineering/environmental management related degree or other appropriate higher-level qualification in a relevant subject or have relevant experience in a similar role in a large organisation. Professional membership of the Energy Institute, CIBSE or another recognised body. Experience of carbon management and delivering carbon/energy improvements in a large organisation.Be highly numerate with excellent IT skills.Excellent organisational and communication skills, working as part of a team and autonomously.Experience of conducting procurements and writing business cases, reports, and funding bids.Ability to think strategically and work under pressure to tight deadlines.
