This is a leadership role responsible for the health and safety of colleagues and contractors, for compliance with environmental regulations and legislation, for the maintenance of quality standards and for the accurate reporting and monitoring of key information regarding sustainability. Reporting to the Group HR Director, the role will be responsible for:Leading, managing and motivating a regional team.Ensuring safe methods of working are in place across multiple sites.Regularly review risk assessments and risk management plans to ensure compliance and continued improvement.Conduct regular audits of sites and activities, and produce action plans and ensure actions are completed in a timely way.Manage accident and incident reporting. Identify issues that require attention and put actions in place to address them.Drive the reporting of near misses and use the information to reduce accidentsEnsure that the Company holds the permits it requires to do business and that these permits are adhered to, reviewed, and renewed as requiredEnsure all environmental regulations and legislation, including not limited to waste, are fully enforced across the business.Establish a professional and productive relationship with the UK Environment AgencyEnsure accurate sustainability data is submitted and reviewed as required by the business and Group.Take the lead in maintaining and improving quality standards so the company maintains its accreditations (ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001)Review safety training for all roles. Ensure each role has appropriate training allocated to it and that individuals complete the initial and refresher training allocated to themLead the training required to deliver COTC, Managing Safety and Environmental Management systems.Support internal and external auditing activity as required and where appropriate The successful candidate will possess:As a minimum, PIEMA and CMIOSH membership and hold at least one of the following qualifications. You will also need to complete all the following qualification in your first year-Certificate of technical competence HROC6 and 4aTAQA training and assessment qualificationLevel 3 training certificateA lead auditor qualification in any one of ISO 9001, 14001 or 45001A sound understanding of environmental permit and waste management compliance or lone worker experience. It is essential that you are aware of the current appropriate measures and can submit full permit application including fire prevention plans, odour management plans and site working plans. The ability to attain a CIWM approved certificate of technical competence and attain the relevant qualification to become a lead assessor and verifier (TAQA level 4). A working knowledge of WEEE, Packaging and Batteries producer responsibility schemes and will manage the submissions and associated scheme memberships to ensure compliance. The ability to analyse data and to submit meaningful reports.Experience of ISO standards, preferably as a qualified lead auditor.
