We are looking for a Head of Finance to join the Podcast finance department and manage the UK financial structures, reporting mechanisms, and day-to-day, monthly, and annual financial activities for Sony Music s Global Podcast Division. The position will be based in London, and report to the Finance Director based in New York. We are looking for an experienced Head of Finance who already has previous experience in the production industry (Digital Audio, Film or TV). What you'll do: MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTS : Oversight and preparation of monthly management accounts for the UK business including journal entry preparation & review Maintenance of the UK project pipeline and activity phasing Review & approval of expenses in SME s purchase order system (both project & overhead) Preparation & review of overhead recoveries, ensuring they are accurately reflected in project cost managers Reviewing monthly freelancer payroll, dealing with queries and ensuring that costs are accurately reflected in project cost managers Inventory accounting under IFRS for merchandise side of the business Overhead allocations for Podcast Division in the UK Review & approval of employee expense reports Maintenance of banking relationship with current provider taking on role of banking administrator and approving manual payments in the banking system Oversee staff accountant s work including: monthly balance sheet reconciliations vendor set ups and payments customer set ups and invoicing STATUTORY ACCOUNTS, AUDIT AND TAX : Main point of contact for audit, dealing with queries and providing supporting information as required to auditors Preparation of financial statements and accompanying notes under UK GAAP (FRS102) in conjunction with Ernst & Young Preparation of taxation packs for Sony tax department and external tax accountants Review of quarterly VAT return prepared by the Accountant and VAT compliance Company secretarial duties submission of dormant accounts and confirmation statements BUSINESS PARTNERING AND ANALYSIS : Maintenance of staff resource planner for UK production team Partner with leadership team on modelling of new business Work closely with Legal, review vendor and talent contracts, and maintain project set-ups consistent with contractual terms Preparation of quarterly talent profit participation statements Adhoc analysis as directed by Podcast Senior Leadership team Corporate insurances BUDGETS AND FORECASTS : Monthly forecasting for UK projects and overheads (including monitoring of marketing, facilities and post-production spend with budget holders) Annual budgeting for UK business Who you are: Professional finance qualification ACA, CIMA or ACCA Previous experience overseeing and delivering month- and year end processes. Previous experience in accounting within the entertainment industry. Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel. Experience being hands on in all aspects of financial activities and control. Comfortable in a changing environment, and willingness to implement change. Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise workload. Ability to drive efficiencies in processes and workflows across the finance function to increase the quality of financial and management information.
