Consumer Exec is exclusively engaged to find a Head of Financial Reporting for a FTSE 250 business based in West London.
With revenues in the hundreds of millions, the role will lead all financial reporting and control, tax, treasury, audit, banking etc as well as being responsible for driving key strategic programmes such as acquisition accounting and integration.
The successful candidate will also work closely with the CFO, leading a team of five (including two direct reports) and also influence the wider finance team.
A specialist knowledge of IFRS reporting standards is a must to ensure high standards of financial reporting and a strong control environment is maintained. You will also develop a broader commercial skillset in a fast-paced business where the finance team is at the heart of day-to-day operations.
Key responsibilities
Overseeing the financial reporting responsibilities including the provision of monthly management information and performance indicators to the Board and other stakeholders.
Taking ownership for the delivery of high-quality group financial reporting to the financial markets and investors, including preparing key accounting estimates and leading the drafting of the consolidated IFRS financial statements.
Managing the Group’s external audit. Responsibilities will include drafting/reviewing key financial reporting position papers and the provision of high quality and timely information to the auditors.
Leading on technical accounting matters under IFRS, including drafting papers and presenting to Executive Committee/Audit Committee Chair.
Reviewing, implementing, and enhancing reporting processes and key controls across the broader business, including managing the integration of acquired businesses into our existing controls framework and systems.
Ensuring compliance with regulatory, banking covenant and statutory reporting requirements.
Maintaining and managing the relationship with external tax advisors
Acquisition and corporate transaction support including preparation and review of financial data, due diligence and analyses, both to account for these transactions and to ensure planned synergies are realized post acquisition.
Developing, coaching, and fostering engagement across the Financial Reporting team and also influencing broader team culture, capabilities, motivation, succession and development.
Skills and experience required:
Big 4 ACA (ICAEW) or CA (ICAS) qualified with at least 5+ years PQE, experience working in a reporting role within industry desirable
Experience auditing and/or working for a listed business
Strong IFRS financial accounting skills, including a strong working knowledge of key financial controls, IFRS15 and acquisition/disposal accounting
Candidates coming straight from practice will be considered, ideally with experience of a secondment working client side.
Hybid working – 3 days per week in the office. However, at certain period ends (January, February, July) you will be expected to be in 4 days per week.
