Brockenhurst College are looking to recruit a Head of Foundation Studies on a full-time, permanent basis . In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £38,781 - £44,928 per annum.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.
The Role:
As our Head of Foundation Studies, you will be an innovative and inspirational leader and teacher (up to 0.4 FTE) that designs and oversees a responsive, supportive and exciting curriculum that meets and anticipates current/future skills needs. You will also ensure the highest quality learning experience for all students within the department to ensure they make the very best rates of progress and achievement and develop a broader set of personal skills in their journey to adulthood. Students within the department thrive as a result of highly supportive, empathetic and driven staff who enable them to progress onto courses within the College or into employment.
Responsibilities as our Head of Foundation Studies will include:
Develop and maintain innovative and high-quality teaching and learning that results in the very best progress and outcomes within the department
Oversee and ensure schemes of work are prepared and up-to-date
Ensure teaching and learning resources are appropriate and deployed effectively
Effectively track and monitor progress through regular assessment to allow for early intervention if progress is lagging, inclusive of EHCP outcomes
To effectively lead the development of teaching of teaching and learning strategies within the department
Ensure the effective and strategic deployment of Learning Support Assistants
Drive high quality teaching learning and assessment to ensure students within the department make the very best progress and achievement
Act as the key point of contact for Foundation Studies students and their families throughout the learner journey
Drive recruitment of students into the department through exciting and innovative opportunities to engage prospective applicants and their parents/carers
Line management of Foundation Studies teachers and other designated teachers/reportees; ensuring staff are well supported and managed
Deliver an effective and efficient curriculum plan and ensure that study programme hours are effectively planned and met
Assume budgetary responsibility for the department to meet College targets and the department is financially robust
As our Head of Foundation Studies , you'll ideally have:
A degree
A teaching qualification
Experience of successful teaching and learning relevant to the role
An understanding of matters relating to SEND, additional needs and vulnerable learners
Knowledge of quality improvement processes
Have strong administrative, organisational and planning skills, being able to prioritise effectively
The ability to develop and maintain strong external partnerships and relationships
Be computer literate
Be committed to working as part of a team, demonstrating a collaborative approach
