Head of Information Technology

A boutique trading company is undergoing a significant technology transformation. They require a highly skilled Head of IT to lead their global team through this exciting transition towards a cloud and DevOps-oriented environment. This pivotal role is ideal for an energetic and experienced leader who has successfully navigated similar transformations and is ready to apply those lessons learned in a new setting. Reporting directly to the CIO, the Head of IT will have several direct reports, including the (EUC) Support Manager, Senior Database Administrator, eCommerce & Market Data Platform Manager and Lead Infrastructure Engineer, but this could also include Applications in future.Key Responsibilities:The successful candidate will oversee the comprehensive IT strategy, ensuring all systems are running efficiently and effectively to meet the business’s needs. They will be instrumental in planning and driving the modernisation of the company’s infrastructure, client, and development tools environments, with a strategic focus on cloud and DevOps solutions.Operational Management:Lead the Business Continuity Planning efforts, collaborating closely on Cyber Security initiatives to safeguard company assets.Manage and optimise IT infrastructure systems, including cloud-based solutions, electronic trading, market data, and telecommunications, ensuring they operate within established SLAs.Enhance workspace and client technologies, promoting digital solutions and optimal space utilisation to support the company’s evolving needs.Security and Policy:Develop and enforce organisational policies regarding technology usage, ensuring compliance with industry standards.Partner with the Information Security Manager to implement robust Cyber Security measures.Oversee the security of internal and perimeter technology systems, maintaining a secure operational environment.Strategy and Planning:Define and implement strategic cloud initiatives and modernisation of client development tools, aligning with the company’s long-term goals.Develop and maintain comprehensive IT infrastructure roadmaps, guiding the company through its technological evolution.Provide stakeholders with informed recommendations on global IT and digital solutions, driving innovation and efficiency.Technical Fabric:Manage various technical services, including compute and storage, Microsoft Azure, VPN, Zero Trust Network, Cyber Security, network and voice systems, messaging systems, desktop engineering, global IT operations, electronic trading systems, market data systems, and business intelligence tools like Power BI.Governance:Adhere to governance frameworks such as COSO and JSOX and comply with FCA, MAS, CFTC systems and controls, EMIR, and DORA.Skills & Experience:The ideal candidate will have a background in managing similar infrastructure and support teams within a trading company. They will have progressed from support or infrastructure roles to overseeing entire IT operations, incorporating modern DevOps and infrastructure tooling. Proven managerial experience is essential, as well as a strong ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members across the globe.Experience in a regulated trading environment, managing complex IT infrastructures and relevant technologies, is essential.
