The Role As Let's Do This ( LDT ) solidifies its position as the largest platform for endurance events in the UK, our ambition grows alongside our achievements. We are seeking a permanent and full-time Head of Legal to lead and develop our in-house legal function. This is currently a sole counsel position with scope to develop a team as the business grows. Your contributions will directly influence our trajectory, making this a unique opportunity to make a significant impact. What You'll Do Act as lead lawyer and the point of contact for all legal matters at LDT. Provide prompt and succinct advice to stakeholders, including the board, often to tight timescales. Develop the legal function and ensure LDT stays compliant in the territories in which we operate (currently UK, EU and US). Work with external counsel where appropriate and manage legal spend. Create operational efficiencies and savings where possible. An understanding of the legal services market is desirable. Manage the contract precedent bank, ensuring precedents are up to date with legal developments and accommodate the business key commercial principles. What We Look For You ll be a senior Solicitor, qualified in England & Wales, with significant PQE and credentials in the technology sector. Highly competent in the areas of commercial / technology contracts and data privacy. Our Head of Legal must be a multi-specialist with exceptional drafting skills - able to turn their hand to a range of instructions regardless of practice area. Key competencies include: Commercial Contracts - Draft, review and advise on a broad spectrum of commercial and technology agreements particularly SaaS, brand partnerships, marketing services and sponsorships. Data Privacy - A thorough understanding of UK and EU data protection and marketing laws is required with demonstrable experience advising on the full range of privacy issues encountered by a consumer-facing technology firm. Your experience must be broader than advising on data protection issues in commercial agreements. Knowledge of US data privacy laws is desirable. More broadly - Additional experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable: employment, corporate/ secretarial, IP, disputes/ regulatory investigations and legal ops. A trusted advisor to the business, capable of giving decisive advice. You must be an independent thinker who can provide a view on the best course of action, rather than simply presenting options. A confident communicator and negotiator, capable of dealing with stakeholders at all levels of business (internally and externally). Building rapport and relationships is essential to the growth of the business. Demonstrated leader. You don t need to have led a legal team before, but you do need to show leadership and supervision/ management skills. You should be capable of advising a broad range of legal and business issues in a general counsel capacity. This includes applying your legal mind to matters outside of your qualified jurisdiction (e.g. US matters) with appropriate external support.
