The opportunity My client are a dynamic organisation that is digitising Britain's energy system to enable households and businesses to use more renewable energy. In this newly created and broad, senior role, you will report to and be working closely with the General Counsel to assist in achieving strategic business objectives that link to the government's wider climate change objectives. You will support multi-million pound commercial (buy and sell side) and corporate transactions, managing relationships with external legal providers and the legal budget. Working with the General Counsel you will design and implement a legal risk framework as well as implement a skills and behaviour's framework for the legal team. You will regularly deputise for the General Counsel internally and externally when required and help to coach and mentor then legal team. About you The ideal candidate will have at least 10-15+ years PQE spanning both private practice and in-house experience. The role will require: A strong understanding of broad corporate / commercial and regulatory matters in the telecommunications and/or energy sector. Experience working at General Counsel or Head of Legal level where you have acted as the General Counsel's deputy. Proven team leadership experience. Some exposure to advising on competition, privacy, and information security matters. The business drive inclusivity and really value their people.
