Venesky-Brown is collaborating with a major UK civils contractor, delivery critical national infrastructure projects across the UK.They are now seeking a Head of Operations within their Renewables division. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction project management and delivery, as well as experience with bid/tender processes, HSEQ implementation, and client relationship management.As Head of Operations, you will manage operational delivery teams and senior Project Managers, reporting directly to the Operations Director.This is a full-time, permanent role, primarily based near Edinburgh with occasional site visits.Salary and other compensation are fully negotiable.Primary tasks and duties:Preconstruction Support Supporting the Tender process as requiredOffering advice in terms of programme, outputs, phasing, management, site delivery team, logic and phasing.Delivery strategy in terms of self-delivery and subcontract works.Review of risks and opportunitiesInforming the final settlement build up and buy into the final Tender submissionResource Management Allocation of resources, aligned with the strategic divisional approach, pipeline of work. programme requirements, ensuring resilience.Continual review of project management resources throughout construction, adjusting as necessary to take account of progress, change and circumstance, recruitment as appropriate.Line Management of Senior Project Managers, including half-yearly performance reviewsReview of direct / indirect resource allocations proposed and allocated through our supply chain.Identification through gap analysis and overview of training requirements across the operational teamsProject delivery Safe and effective project delivery is essential to our customers and fundamental to delivering our business objectives. The Head of Operations is responsible for the following in this respect:Attendance and coordination of key project meetings, including: Tender handover meetings, "Fit to Build" meetings, pre-start meetings with the client and subcontractors, subcontract prelet meetings by exception - depending on value, complexity.For Design & Build: ensuring that there is a clear scope and deliverables programmeEngagement visits to confirm sites are operating in line with company processes. To create an environment were staff and operatives will raise issues and concerns.Monthly Project Review Meeting coordination, complete scorecard and actions as necessary.Review of projects’ commercial performance - CTCAttendance at CVR review meetingsLean construction Promotion and support of our desired metrics across all areas, namely:ValueProgrammeQESHLean ConstructionSite returnsCustomerReview and implementation of improvement opportunitiesPositive OutcomesMeasure the extent to which each of our projects are achieving our operational goals, in terms of margin, programme, and HSEQContinual ImprovementReview of PRM output, identification of causes of poor performance, and implementation of measures to address these causesLead and implement measures to deliver continual improvementFocus on improving any projects which may be in “special measures.” Develop and implement control measures.Continual review and adherence to the Infrastructure Operational Business Plan objectives, assistance with delivery of improvement project initiatives.Secondary tasks and duties:Attendance at Tender settlement meetings by exception.Ensuring Group/BU KPI’s are monitored, and targets achievedDeveloping and managing relationships with Private Sector Clients, including the identification of future opportunities and pipeline.Developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing suppliers.Arranging Project "lessons learnt" meetingsDevelopment and monitoring of the regional business plan.If you’re interested in this position, apply here by clicking the button below.
