We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for a Head of Repairs on a temporary basis for three months. The position is due to start immediately. The daily rate is £350-£450 per day on an Umbrella basis.The ideal candidate must have experience of leading a maintenance and repairs service within the public sector and hold a full UK Driving License.Duties will include (but are not limited to): Leading, planning and monitoring the delivery of all Responsive Repairs services for the council’s local authority on a day-to-day operational basisOverseeing a team of two Technical Services Managers and Project OfficersContract managing the delivery of repairs from start to completion with an external contractorReviewing and monitoring contractor performance, ensuring a high level of service delivery within housing repairsControlling all budgets relating to responsive repairs and maintenanceDealing with escalated complaints from tenants as required, providing effective resolutionReporting on KPIs for work steams, preparing and presenting reports on operational performanceManaging strategies to reduce insurance and disrepair claims, coordinating and responding to legal correspondence as required to defend claimsExperience required:Experience working with customers within housingExperience working with domestic social housing propertiesExperience of leading a maintenance and repairs service within the public sectorSkills, knowledge and expertise required:Risk assessment and managementCompliance and due diligenceAbility to create a climate where employees are involved, empowered and committedAppropriate technical qualification in constructionExcellent organisational and interpersonal skillsExcellent attention to detailAbility to work on own initiativeDetailed knowledge of legislation relating to housing assetsDetailed knowledge of legislation relating to statutory compliance (Gas/Electric/Asbestos/Legionella/H&S/CDM)Working hours:37 hours per week Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm Please note that you require recent experience to apply for this role.James Andrews is acting as an employment agency and business in relation to this role.At James Andrews Recruitment Solutions we try to respond to all applications personally, however, due to the high volume of applications this is not always possible.
