An exciting opportunity awaits a passionate and highly effective educator to join the Leadership team as the Head of Science. This role involves leading the delivery and assessment of the Science Curriculum across both Primary and Secondary phases. The successful candidate will oversee and monitor the Science Department across all areas of the multi-site school, playing a crucial role in delivering and modelling high-quality lessons. This position offers the chance to broaden the students' access to a comprehensive and balanced curriculum. The role includes a 0.8 teaching timetable, with 0.2 allocated for PPA and management time.

We are looking for someone who is deeply passionate about Science and dedicated to providing exceptional education for children who may exhibit challenging behaviours. Understanding complex needs and having experience with social and emotional health difficulties are essential.

  • Have excellent subject knowledge and the ability to teach additional subjects.
  • Demonstrate significant, relevant teaching experience with the ability to personalise learning and deliver engaging, creative, and practical lessons.
  • Achieve outstanding student outcomes.
  • Regularly monitor and support Science across all sites, including frequent site visits.
  • Have the determination to make a significant impact on the community they serve.
  • Have experience in effectively risk assessing activities.
  • Be committed to continuous professional development for themselves and their team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS/QTLS
  • A First Degree or Certificate of Education
  • Substantial and relevant experience with Special Educational Needs, preferably SEMH, and those facing barriers to engaging with educational settings
  • Relevant and recent professional development pertinent to the role
  • Experience contributing to successful Ofsted outcomes
