About the Role Level: 6Department: TechnologyLocation: Southampton or LondonContract type: PermanentMain Responsibilities Responsible for leading and managing a High-Performance Technical Engineering function of c.55 people and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Experience in all people management activities including performance management, training and development and ongoing coaching of your team are essential.
Oversees the design, development and implementation of solutions in partnership with IT solution delivery teams, including Architecture, Infrastructure, Information Security and 3rd party solution providers.
Executes required deliverables through software development, test, integration and support activities adhering to the project design principles androadmaps.
Defines software engineering standards andpatterns and ensures consistent and effective delivery from the team.
Mitigates risk of delivery failure by working closely with Change Delivery teams to inform and direct decisions through effective application of quality management andgovernance.
Ensures adherence to Quilter policies and maintains an appropriate level of Governance and Assurance in conjunction with thesepolicies.
Drives continuous improvement within the software engineering community of practice, recommending technical developments to improve quality of the applications software to better meet businessneeds.
Effectively leads change and initiates new and better ways of working to deliver positive customeroutcomes.
Communicates confidently and effectively, at a senior level, both in written and verbal form.
Agile – makes decisions within remit and executes in fast, simple and focused way.
Strong interpersonal skills, able to build and maintain positive and sometimes difficult working relationships.

You could be exactly what this role needs Proven track record within a large matrixed IT function, including systems analysis, design and application development.Experience in working with both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologiesExperience of leading and transforming a Software Engineering FunctionVisibility within the Technology function – This role office based, with the benefit of working Hybrid (2 days office/3 days at home are currently required)Understanding of industry best practice and trends together with their application within a business context.Experience of leading through large scale and complex change both from a Technology and People change perspective.Strong stakeholder management – This role will have exposure to our Exco and will need to be able to form strong relationships and influence at all levels.Experience of Microsoft Technology stack would be an advantage, (including Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, Azure Functions & MS Dynamics), as well as experience of portal and mobile app development. #LI-PM1 Our purpose is to help the generations today and tomorrow to prosper.
