Health & Safety Manager / Senior AdvisorGalldris GroupLocation: Birmingham, United KingdomAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Manager / Senior Advisor to join our Birmingham team. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering or Construction background. Health & Safety Manager / Senior Advisor will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the Company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Management systems across site(s).The Health & Safety Manager / Senior Advisor will be responsible for working closely with all levels of our Project delivery teams and supply chain to ensure that Galldris and client H&S expectations and requirements are achieved.As the Health & Safety Manager / Senior Advisor you will work closely with our client H&S team to build and develop a professional working relationship. Carry out audits and inspections to identify areas requiring improvement, but also recognise and reward where best practice or innovation is being implemented.This is a regional role covering a variety of construction projects within the Birmingham region. The ideal candidate will have to hold a full UK driving licence, as travel between sites is necessary.Key Accountabilities to include but not limited to:Be an integral part of the Project Delivery team , helping to deliver accident and incident free projectsAdvising contract and site staff on content of risk assessments, method statements, task-specific briefings, Site Health & Safety Plans, and safety issues generallyChair Project level monthly HSEQ Forward Planning meeting, , conduct monthly HSEQ Audits and inspections, ensure closure of non-conformances. Engage with staff and workforce while on projectsRepresenting the Company at Safety meetings with Clients and Sub-Contractors. Attend Project Pre-Start Meetings and Sub-Contractor Pre-Start MeetingsAccident Investigation and reports. Carry out with the Project Delivery Team and ensure improvement actions are identified and closed out. Produce relevant Safety Bulletins for company wide distributionCommunication of safety initiatives/notices/alerts to staff and workforceLiaison with HSQE Director or Head of Health and Safety – producing monthly Project summaries, assisting in Group procedure reviews. Attend weekly HSEQ review meetingAssist with development and deliver in-house safety training programs/presentationsIssue staff information as to changes in technology, work methods or statutory requirements by means of safety bulletins, and internal safety procedures applicable to the CompanyKeep up to speed with client H&S Standards and Specifications and ensure that these are implemented at project levelDevise strategies to meet targets and encourage best practices ensuring compliance with HSE legislationUndertake other duties commensurate with the level of this positionComply with Company policies & proceduresKeep abreast of developing technologies and understand if they would be suitable for trialling on our projectsExperience/Knowledge:Previous experience of Civil Engineering or construction projects – covering areas such as drainage / groundworks / structures / temporary works / Reinforced Concrete / earthworks / lifting operations etc. Previous experience on large scale Capital Infrastructure Projects would be beneficialKnowledge and understanding of statutory H&S and Environmental RegulationsKnowledge and understanding of Client Health Safety and Environmental requirementsGood understanding of CDM 2015 – Roles and ResponsibilitiesImplementation and delivery of Behavioural Safety ProgrammesWorking with less experienced members of the team and offer support and mentoringSkills:IT literateExcellent communication skills both verbal and writtenAbility to raise awareness and improve safety cultureProactively lead and manage the HSE Management policies, procedures, and practicesAbility to train and develop staff, improving their understanding and capabilitiesAbility to work in a pro-active, cooperative manner with client, contract, and site staff to improve performance and minimise non-conformances on siteTeam player who will work collaboratively to achieve collective goals.Qualifications:NEBOSH Qualification (general & construction) or equivalentIOSH Membership, preferably CMIOSH, or working towards.CSCS Managers or Professional cardTemporary Works and / or Lifting Operations would be beneficialInterested applicants must be eligible to work legally in the UK.Should you feel you have what it takes to be successful in this role then we would love to hear from you.Employee referral scheme - refer a friend or family member to work for Galldris.
