The Health and Safety Manager Opportunity:

The purpose of the role is to provide professional Environmental, Health and Safety advisory and training services to the Company, to monitor the application and compliance of Health and Safety policies, and to support the primary Health and Safety representative of the Company with external agencies.

Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Manager:


  • Strategic Guidance and Expertise: Lead EHS strategy and provide expert advice to promote a culture of safety excellence.
  • Compliance Champion: Ensure adherence to customer, corporate, and government requirements to protect the company's reputation and build trust.
  • Proactive Incident Management: Oversee accident and incident investigations, implement effective remedial measures, and refine processes to align with best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement Advocate: Establish and maintain corrective action processes to address safety concerns and compliance gaps, turning them into enhancement opportunities.
  • Empowerment through Training: Provide comprehensive advice and training programs to equip stakeholders with the knowledge and skills to champion safety.
  • External Collaboration Maven: Act as the main liaison with HSE authorities and insurance agencies, fostering relationships that support EHS excellence.
  • Resource Optimization and Data Mastery: Manage PPE inventory to ensure readiness and cost control, and use data analysis to drive continuous improvement.
  • Risk Management Maestro: Conduct risk assessments, collaborate with operations teams, and ensure documentation is updated to address evolving business needs.
  • Comprehensive Audits and Collaborative Improvements: Perform EHS inspections and audits with employee safety representatives and line managers, driving accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Transparent Reporting and Actionable Insights: Provide clear reporting on safety metrics, empowering stakeholders to take preventative actions and promote continuous improvement.

Our ideal Health and Safety Manager:


  • NEBOSH General Certificate qualified
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position ideally from an automotive but will consider engineering/manufacturing experience.
  • Experience of COSHH with paint and chemicals.
  • Experience of maintaining and developing H&S policy
  • Effective trainer /communicator, ideally with experience of having led teams in a matrix environment
