Role: Health and Safety Manager
Location: Essex (2 days per week) with UK site travel as required
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum
Our client is a leading civil engineering contractor working in the groundworks and highways sectors and are seeking a Health and Safety Manager to champion best practices and maintain a culture of safety across their operations.
About the Role
As the Health and Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and fostering a proactive health and safety environment. Reporting to senior management, you will oversee safety protocols on diverse sites across the UK while being based at the Essex office two days a week.
Your Responsibilities:
·Develop and implement health and safety strategies, policies, and procedures in alignment with industry standards.
·Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and resolve hazards.
·Deliver engaging health and safety training to staff and contractors.
·Stay updated with legislation changes and ensure compliance across all projects.
·Investigate incidents, prepare reports, and recommend improvements to prevent recurrences.
·Collaborate with site teams and senior leaders to promote a strong safety-first culture.
Requirements:
·NEBOSH certification is essential (Diploma or equivalent preferred).
·Proven experience in health and safety management within the civil engineering, groundworks, or highways sectors.
·Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and its practical application in construction.
·Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels.
·Flexibility to travel to sites across the UK as required.
