TSR are currently seeking a Senior Health & Safety Advisor on a temporary basis for a 12–14-week period, with the potential opportunity to transition into a permanent position with our client. This role is essential for covering a short-term gap and will involve a variety of responsibilities such as:
Conducting site audits and process audits
Drafting and reviewing procedures alongside the HSEQ Director
Supporting CHAS, NASC and Constructionline submissions
Enhancing safety culture by effectively communicating at all levels, including site operatives
The ideal candidate will be:
NEBOSH Construction Qualified, with experience working across various construction sites
Knowledgeable in scaffolding and holding an Advanced Inspection Card
A dynamic professional with strong communication skills and attention to detail
Comfortable in both office settings and site-level interactions
Able to use a computer and all MS Packages and be comfortable to work on their own initiative
Key Responsibilities Include:
Support the Group Board of Directors in providing strategic leadership in the planning, implementation, and training to ensure we fulfil and exceed our obligations, driving an inclusive culture and ensuring our integrated management systems are reflected by what we do, whilst working in line with legislation
Lead on the further development, implementation and monitoring of our systems, procedures and culture throughout all businesses
Lead the full function of Health, Safety, Quality and Environment, reporting to the board of directors/shareholders within the organisation ensuring maximum effectiveness and efficiency in delivery of Health and Safety objectives
Lead on development of HSEQ KPI indicators and manage the quality monitoring and reporting process for weekly/monthly or yearly targeting
Lead on processes & procedures to ensure on-going compliance with NASC and HSE standards/legislation is followed
Provide professional leadership and advice and inform all employees of training requirements alongside statutory and legal requirements within the organisation
Be visible on the workface and carry out internal audits and workforce monitoring using our digital auditing systems
Attend client face-to-face meetings on behalf of the business as our HSEQ Manager representative, action and communicate findings driving continual improvement
Ensure processes and procedures are in place to comply and fulfil the requirements of the workforce standards. Liaise with the operations teams to come up with workable solutions and improvements that can help and assist ourselves and the industry
Assess risks and measure the severity for all aspects of industrial operations inclusive of but not limited to, Rope Access, Scaffolding, insulation, coatings, blasting, industrial cleaning
Create analytical reports of safety data for Accident, Incident and Near Misses using our digital Systems
Attend bi-weekly operations meetings held by Operations Director – input into the meeting regarding H&S performance
Attend monthly senior leadership meetings – present H&S section based on previous month's performance and statistics, identifying trends and actions required from senior management
Work with and mentor HSEQ/Compliance Apprentice to ensure they progress and fulfil their career progression
Present safety principles to staff in meetings or training sessions
Participate in continuing education to update knowledge of health and safety protocols and techniques, including delivering accredited training across the Group of companies
Partake and assist in JMAC Mental Health campaigns – Level 3 Mental Health First Aid training to be given
Audit the finished product/scaffolding to ensure it is to the highest standards. Supplier audits to be organised for safety systems products
Create safety action plans that include suggested improvements to existing infrastructure and business policies/procedures & processes
Share information, suggestions, and observations with project leadership to create consistency in safety standards throughout the production team and the entire company
Meet company Health and Safety Objectives and/or Goals
Investigate root causes of accidents and other unsafe conditions
Liaise with law enforcement (HSE/EHO) and other investigators in the event of a serious accident
Review findings of accidents, giving advice on the best way to prevent recurrent accidents, incidents or near misses
Review and report on staff compliance with health and safety and make recommendations or dismissal based on performance
Chair the monthly/quarterly Health and Safety Committee Meetings
Manage and review the full aspects of JMAC Group accreditations throughout the Group of companies
Important Notes:
This role is not for a scaffolding inspector but rather requires broader expertise in health and safety practices
The candidate will be based at the Head Office but will travel to and from sites to conduct audits, etc.
