Health, Safety and Environmental advisorLarge Automotive manufacturing business£35,000 - £40,000 per annumAn exciting opportunity to become a key integral part of a leading manufacturing business in Birmingham. As a HSE advisor you will oversee, support, and advise our group on all matters concerning Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives, as well as to establish and manage their Group's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Strategy, standards, and processes. This is an extremely hands on role which will involve being on the shop floor making sure the entire manufacturing and production environment is adhering to it's HSE policies and commitments. You will have full autonomy of the HSE operation and need someone that is happy to manage the full 360 process. Responsibilities will include:Health and Safety:Develop and review risk assessments and actions for all operations and equipmentEnsure compliance with statutory health, safety, and welfare regulationsImplement health and safety policies, systems, and proceduresConduct regular health and safety inspections, walk rounds and auditsProvide comprehensive health and safety training across the organisationAdvise on personal protective equipment (PPE) and deliver relevant trainingStay updated on health, safety, and welfare legislation and communicate changesLead monthly HSE meetings and liaise with external consultantsProvide guidance and support to managers and supervisors on H&S mattersReview and guide H&S investigations and corrective actionsMonitor company processes for quality standards and continuous improvementFire Safety:Coordinate accident reporting and investigationsEnsure compliance with fire safety policies and evacuation proceduresDevelop action plans for fire safety issuesEnvironmental:Manage and monitor the companies ESG StrategyDrive environmental management and sustainability effortsEnsure legal compliance and identify opportunities for improvementIntegrate environmental considerations into policies, products, and operationsSupport recycling and waste management proceduresProvide technical support for projects impacting the environmentImplement measures to achieve ISO 14001 requirements and environmental objectivesOther Duties:Maintain NEBOSH (General Certificate) and Environmental Certificate qualificationsMentor key staff on health, safety, and environmental practicesBuild strong internal and external relationshipsDrive continuous improvement and challenge Ensure high-quality work and service delivery across all departmentsImplement policies and procedures compliant with corporate governanceEnsure adherence to health and safety expectations by all employees and contractorsThis position involves interacting regularly with operational, HR, quality, and engineering teams across multiple sites. It requires maintaining confidentiality and working effectively in a dynamic environment.Key Skills:Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilitiesProject management and coaching skillsProficiency in reporting, auditing, and influencingCommitment to health, safety, and environmental standardsQualified system Auditor for ISO 45001 & ISO14001 and preferably ISO 9001-ISO/TS 16849Interested to know more?
