Health And Safety Manager Salary: £47,000 - £57,000 DOE with a 10% annual bonus

Orion is partnered with a well-established Recycling company located in Nottingham which is recruiting for a highly experienced Health and Safety Manager.

The focus of this Health and Safety Manager is :

• Strategic Development: Shape and steer the H&S strategy across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.

• Operational Execution: Directly manage day-to-day safety operations, ensuring compliance with all H&S legislation, enhancing our safety systems, and leading our safety team.

Health and Safety Manager Duties:

• To cover 4x waste management sites - 3x Leicester & 1x Nottingham with Nottingham being the main base for this candidate to work from.


• Responsible for ensuring the highest levels of regulatory compliance for Health, Safety, and Environmental are applied at the sites within their region.


• Writing policies and procedures


• Implement changes to improve safety & reduce risk


• Lead the adoption of best practices in health and safety standards and initiatives.


• Develop, record, and report on H&S KPIs, providing insights and action plans.


• Manage the Health & Safety team on a daily basis.


• Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance.


• Maintain and enhance H&S management systems to meet ISO9001, 14001, and OHSAS18001 standards.


• Investigate accidents and lead post-incident analysis and improvements.


• Coordinate responses to non-conformances and implement corrective actions.


• Deliver comprehensive health and safety training across all levels of staff.


• Liaise with regulatory bodies, ensuring constructive relationships and compliance.

Health and Safety Manager Experience:

• Waste experience, Manufacturing or heavy industry experience.


• Similar Sector '' Worked with Heavy machinery, metal industrial conveyor belts, shredders, Crushers


• Ideally worked on or with Azure Systems


• Worked to ISO9001, 14001 and OHSAS1


• ISHOS & NEBOSH Qualification to HnD Level


• Must have experience working in a heavy industrial plant environment


• Strong influencer with a range of stakeholders with the ability to communicate strategic plans and projects.


• Riddor Reports


• Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental good practice and control expectations.


• Flexible and able to manage priorities, resolve problems, and escalate issues in a fast-paced environment.


• NEBOSH General in Occupational Health & Safety (or greater)


• NEBOSH fire certificate


• IEMA Certificate OR Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management (or equivalent).


• Experience gained in the Food or Agricultural industry.


• Good understanding of improvement processes, tolls, and capability-building
