HGV Class 1 Driver Trainer

About The Role:

As a HGV Class 1 Driver / Driver Trainer, you will be ROSPA certified and work alongside our Class 1 drivers to support with training and coaching to ensure that our fleet operates as efficiently as possible.  You will be out on the road completing trunks to our depots, as well as supporting the Transport Manager to review and monitor the driving performance of our drivers.

At AO we are offering

• Salary: £16.64 per hour increasing to £17.16 after 6 months


• Hours: 10 hour night shifts working Sunday to Thursday


• Job Type: Full time and permanent contract

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing:

• Based in Crewe with expectation to cover other sites as required


• Work alongside the Transport Manager to identify where retraining and coaching is needed


• Ensure all drivers fully understand their telematic scores and coach them to improve their performance and drive as efficiently as possible


• Build & write written SSW’s & training docs


• Complete driver licence checks


• Prepare written risk assessments and assess drivers on risk assessments


• Manage a core number of drivers to obtain high MPG & low idling.


• Manage a core number of drivers to obtain green band driving score

A Few Things About Our Ideal HGV Class 1 Driver:

• Current and Valid CPC and DIGI TACHO


• ROSPA qualification desired but not essential


• Can confidently deliver training and coaching to drivers


• Computer literate for reviewing and updating driver records


• Good knowledge of the UK road network


• Good timekeeping
