Job Vacancy: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Prospero Teaching are seeking a friendly and confident HLTA to join our client Primary School based in Portsmouth (PO2). Within this role you will be working across all year groups from Pre-School to Year 6. Applicants should be an experienced HLTA or LSA/TA willing to undertake HLTA qualification.

• Location - Portsmouth (PO2)
• Position - Higher Level Teaching Assistant
• Start date - ASAP
• Contract type - Long Term / Permanent
• Duration / Likely Duration - Ongoing
• Full time/part time - Full Time
• Minimum rate of pay - �15 per hour

Requirements:

• Experience supporting children's learning and development
• Experience with interaction and communication needs
• Excellent communication skills with children, colleagues, and parents
• Confident in covering PPA across the school, including Pre-School
• Flexible in covering classes last minute due to staff absence
• Ability to plan support for individual children's needs
• Independent, proactive, and initiative-driven
• Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures

Responsibilities:

• Supervise whole classes in the teacher's absence
• Use specialist skills to support pupils
• Work unsupervised during PPA cover and fulfil reasonable requests from teaching staff/SLT
• Assist in creating a suitable learning environment
• Evaluate and record pupils' responses through observations
• Implement curriculum programmes at the whole class level
• Manage pupil behaviour and assess progress independently
• Apply school, national, and statutory policies in the workplace

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

• Hold right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references
