About This Role:
You will be part of a team managing and providing the highway asset management data across Highways. Your role will be to undertake Highway safety inspections on time in accordance with the Highway Operational Standards and to raise orders for work to ensure Highway defects are fixed. You will be required to enter details of your inspections into the Asset Management System to provide a robust defence against highway claims. You will also provide accurate data to colleagues, insurance and lawyers regarding safety inspections, defects and their rectification.

The development and delivery of high-quality asset management is vital to the future economic wellbeing of the county.
The role is to carry out programmed and ad hoc inspections of the road network and deal with emergency and safety defects in accordance with the Highway Operational Standards. You will also be required to provide appropriate evidence to support inspections and provide information on the condition of the highway in response to third party claims, insurance issues arising on the highway. The role requires excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge and application of asset management principles and you must be able to build relationships with customers, businesses, partner organisations and other stakeholders.
We are looking for a candidate who has experience of highway maintenance and who has a sound technical understanding of highways. You will be expected to be able to manage highway work; works ordering and dealing with correspondence in a geographical area.
You will be required to support the Team Leader and other managers within Place & Sustainability in delivering the Council and Directorate's objectives, through joined-up service planning, community engagement and the flexible use of resources.
