Vetro Education are seeking to recruit an experienced and dedicated History Teacher to work in a secondary school in the Newport Local Education Authority. The ideal Teacher will have a proven track record of teaching History learners in Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Sixth form. Teachers of Religious Education would be considered if a strong understanding of History can be demonstrated. The school has tasked Vetro to find a History Teacher, who can hit the ground running and become a part of the Humanities department from day one.
The role itself is for 3 - 5 days per week (depending on the successful applicant), teaching from Year 7 to Sixth form. The school would like the successful Teacher to start in September 2024 and the role is set to run until December 20th 2024 in the first instance.

  • Pay: £157.66 per day minimum
  • Location: Newport
  • Hours: Full or Part time, Long Term - Monday to Friday 830am - 330pm

The role: What you'll be doing as a History Teacher

  • Lead a classroom of learners - Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Sixth form
  • Preparing the classroom for lessons and plan schemes of work where required
  • Deliver lessons in line with national curriculum
  • Engage learners with both classroom and lab-based activities
  • Work in accordance to the school's behaviour management policies


The candidate: What you'll need to be successful as a History Teacher

  • At least 1 year History teaching experience (exceptions made for NQTs)
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status or overseas equivalent
  • Registration as a Teacher with the EWC (the Education Workforce Council) - we can help you with this
  • References covering the last two years (no gaps)
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • The right to work in the UK
