Permanent, Part Time

£23,344 per annum Full Time Equivalent

Location: Basildon

Working Style: Fixed-base worker

Please note that this position is being offered on a Part Time basis, offering 16 hours per week, which will be worked as four x 3-hour days and one x 4-hour day, with the working days being Monday to Friday, between 8am till Midday.

This is a part time opportunity for 16 hours per week. The pro rata salary is £10,094.71 Per Annum.

The Role

The housekeeper will have responsibility for maintaining the family centre as a clean, hygienic, and welcoming space. Working alongside our caretaker and cleaning staff, the focus will be the interior of the building, with tasks including supplementing the cleaning, overseeing deep cleans of rooms, soft furnishings and carpets and ensuring the toys and equipment are kept in good condition and regularly cleaned. In addition, the housekeeper will have responsibility for maintaining the ovens and fridges / freezers in good condition and work alongside the family centre team to shop for the centre and for the 'community cupboard' foodbank.

The Opportunity

The Cleaner / Housekeeper will ensure the cleanliness of the premises is kept to a high standard in accordance with cleaning specifications, to support the delivery of services.

With experience of cleaning and a knowledge of health and safety practices and the ability to plan own workload.

Accountabilities

  • Undertake alongside the cleaning team oversee and contribute to the full range of cleaning tasks, including toilets, windows, polishing etc, periodic special and spring cleaning, fridges, freezers, and cookers.
  • To work with the support workers to rotate and clean the toys and play equipment
  • To work with the caretaker to ensure the soft furnishings, blinds and carpets are regularly cleaned
  • Monitor supplies of cleaning materials, ensuring replenishment of hand towels, toilet rolls, soap etc throughout the building.
  • To monitor the kitchen supplies including refreshment supplies, foodbank stocks and to do the weekly shop for the centre notifying manager when stock needs ordering.
  • Responsible for using equipment as necessary.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Previous experience of cleaning in an employed capacity, with knowledge of relevant Health and Safety procedures.
  • Ability to undertake cleaning work, handle equipment and work at height (ladders).
  • Educated to RQF level 1 (GCSE) or equivalent by experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Data Protection and confidentiality.
  • Experience of planning own workload and prioritising tasks.
