Reporting to: Operations Team Leader
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm)
Salary: �27,264.00 - �42,287.00 per annum
About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Housing Officer to provide comprehensive support and management to Service Users residing in dispersed accommodation across the Colchester, Tendring, Clacton, and Harwich areas. This role requires a proactive and empathetic individual with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Service User Support:

  • Manage a caseload of approximately (Apply online only) Service Users.
  • Conduct inductions and support Service Users settling into their new accommodation.
  • Provide guidance and signposting to local services (doctors, shops, support agencies).
  • Conduct regular visits and report any incidents, issues, or concerns.
  • Ensure Service Users adhere to tenancy agreements and move-on dates.
  • Arrange transportation for Service Users as needed.
  • Prioritize Service User health and safety.
  • Conduct regular welfare checks.

Property Management:

  • Conduct regular property inspections and report any maintenance issues.
  • Ensure timely repairs and replacements of property items.
  • Recommend property relocations for optimal portfolio utilisation.
  • Prepare properties for re-occupation after Service User departure.
  • Ensure properties comply with all health and safety regulations.

Administration & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all Service User interactions and property information.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and submit required reports.
  • Ensure appropriate property certification documentation is produced and recorded.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders (landlords, housing providers, support agencies).
  • Liaise with local support agencies to ensure relationships are maintained.
  • Assist in the local stakeholder involvement process by attending meetings as required.

Collaboration & Support:

  • Work closely with your line manager and team members.
  • Collaborate with others, attending meetings as required.
  • Support team members and provide on-the-job training.
  • Provide cover for other staff as agreed by the line manager.
  • Be available for out-of-hours support in case of significant emergencies.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in supporting vulnerable adults or working within a housing environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (Essential)

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working with dispersed accommodation.
  • Knowledge of housing legislation and homelessness issues.
  • Experience using property management software.
