Job Description

Brakes are currently recruiting a new HR Business Partner in our Supply Chain & Operations team who will partner with the Network Strategy and Delivery teams to ensure the successful delivery of the new network strategy.

Reporting to the HR Director, Supply Chain and Operations, this role will be pivotal to ensuring the success of the new network strategy. Leading a small team of highly talented HR Project and Change Managers, the successful candidate will lead the planning for the people element of the network strategy and multiple projects to deliver this such as the people plan for the opening of our new London site, standardising organisation design across the network, developing a strategic workforce plan aligned to the network strategy.

This role is home-based, however will require frequent travel across the UK to visit our depot network, particularly in and around London, so flexibility with travel is essential.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:  

  • Partner the Directors of Network Strategy and Delivery to ensure that there are people plans that align with the network strategy.
  • Lead a small team of HR Project and Change
  • Liaise closely with all the HR COEs to ensure that they are engaged with the changes at the earliest opportunity.
  • Develop and deliver plans for opening the new London depot that will ensure a successful launch including workforce planning, pay strategy, onboarding, induction and team development.
  • Establishment of the leadership team for the new London depot including embedding behaviours to drive the culture and capability to lead our largest depot in Europe.
  • Work with the Director of Network Delivery to understand the impact of technology changes on the network and develop people plans to support their implementation.
  • Deliver and embed standard OD across the network including standard organisation structures, role descriptions, and development interventions by leadership level.
  • Develop pipeline of colleagues to meet future frontline, management and leadership requirements through appropriate mechanisms e.g. apprenticeships, graduate programmes, development plans.

Required skills and competencies

We’re looking for a highly experienced HR professional who has a proven track record in both generalist HR and organisational development, ideally from a logistics/supply chain background. A CIPD Level 7 qualification is essential for this role. You’ll be able to think creatively and strategically whilst positively influencing and collaborating with senior leaders across the business. This role suits someone who is highly organised and capable of leading multiple workstreams, identifying interdependencies and ensuring you bring these together in a streamlined way with a focus on managers and colleagues. You’ll also be an experienced leader who will ensure that your team has a clear vision, objectives and are well engaged and developed.
