HR Business Partner

Salary: up to £53k depending on experience
Job type: Full time 37 hours per week, Hybrid, 1 day a week in the office
Are you a strong Generalist HR Business Partner looking for a varied role within a busy team? Then this could be the role for you. Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority have an exciting opportunity for a HR Business Partner to join their team on an initial 9-month FTC contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the HR operational team to provide high-quality, customer-focused, and consistent HR advice, guidance, and support.
- Ensure the HR operational team delivers specific objectives within the People Plan.
- Provide regular feedback to direct reports and colleagues within the HR Team as needed, adapting working style as appropriate.
Employee Relations
- Develop a positive approach to employee relations by building strong and effective partnerships between HR colleagues, managers, staff, and Trade Unions.
- Provide professional advice and support on the application and interpretation of HR policies and terms and conditions of service to senior managers.
- Ensure casework in managed effectively through regular case management meetings.
Organisational Design
- Lead on the delivery of organisational development initiatives and interventions to support the People Plan. Work closely with Directors, senior managers and line managers to support and implement new ways of working and ensure that the skills and capacity of the workforce meet current and emerging organisational needs.
- Employee Relations Case Work (including formal Case Reviews and Appeals), Absence management, Performance Management, Disciplinary & Grievances.
- Organisational Change Management, including redundancy.
What we are looking for:
- CIPD level 7 or equivalent
- A strong Generalist HR professional with experience in:
- Restructures, consultations and dealing with trade unions.
- Line management
- Using a Job Evaluation scheme in the UK, including Chairing Panels, and providing feedback as needed.
- Contract management with HR partners (for example, Occupational Health, Payroll). Significant experience and credibility to chair regular strategic meetings with Directors.
- Developing, implementing and monitoring HR policies and procedures.
- Successfully developing and delivering specific HR strategies (within at least one area of: Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Learning and Development or Wellbeing).
- Workforce planning and recruitment.
