Brunswick Organic Nursery is a registered charity based in Bishopthorpe, York, which provides a productive and rewarding workplace environment for people with learning disabilities to grow and thrive in.
We build skills and confidence, support wellbeing and develop independence through offering opportunities in different work areas. These include events planning and office administration, crafts, woodwork, cooking and horticulture (growing plants at the garden nursery, growing organic fruit and vegetables, and a contract gardening service for the local community).
About the Role:
This is a new role for us and we’re excited to be able to build and improve our HR capacity. Our HR function has grown over the years and has mostly been developed by one of our Directors.
It’s time to hand this on to someone who can fulfil our administrative and operational aspects of HR as well help us develop it even further. For this, we need someone who can start with what we have now, who is able to bring or explore new options and ultimately implement changes to enhance what we have.

In all aspects of this role, you’ll need excellent attention to detail and be able to organise your work autonomously. You’ll have strong listening and communication skills and your written language skills need to be excellent. You’ll be comfortable collaborating with colleagues and also able to use your initiative.
