GSL Education are looking for an enthusiastic Humanities Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Middlesbrough. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a department that values creativity, critical thinking, and high academic standards.

About the Role:
As a Humanities Teacher, you will teach engaging lessons across History, Geography, and Religious Studies. You will inspire students to think critically, explore important global issues, and develop a love for learning.

Key Responsibilities of a Humanities Teacher:


  • Teach Humanities subjects (History, Geography, and Religious Studies) to secondary school students.
  • Create exciting and challenging lessons that inspire students to think deeply.
  • Assess student progress and give helpful feedback to help them improve.
  • Build a positive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to share ideas and discuss topics.
  • Make lessons relevant to students’ lives to spark interest in the Humanities.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to teaching and curriculum.
  • Get involved in extracurricular activities and school events related to Humanities.
  • Support students’ well-being and offer help where needed.

Required Qualifications to be a Humanities Teacher:


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of the Humanities curriculum and a passion for the subjects.
  • Experience teaching Humanities at secondary school level (ECTs welcome).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and engage students with complex topics.
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive classroom.
  • A proactive and team-oriented approach to work.
  • Updated CV (covering the last 10 years with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willing to apply).
