Role Title: Hygiene Lead (Manager)

Location: Northamptonshire

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday - 1pm to 10pm (Some flexibility on days and timings)

Salary: �33,000 per annum

Job Description

One of our clients, a well-established manufacturing company with a rich heritage following a recent merger, is looking for a Hygiene Lead. As part of a larger group, they supply the UK's Foodservice, Retail, and B2B sectors, specializing in chilled and frozen sauces, soups, pies, and desserts.

The Opportunity

This role involves leading the hygiene team, ensuring adherence to food contact and environmental hygiene standards, and providing guidance on best practices within the operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the hygiene cleaning schedule.
  • Supervise hygiene operatives and oversee task completion.
  • Manage hygiene-related non-conformances in line with procedures.
  • Lead investigations into out-of-specification food contact or environmental swab failures.
  • Plan and oversee the cleaning of factory equipment, including tins, racks, and frames.
  • Maintain hygiene-related platforms and manage continuous improvement actions.
  • Assist Shift Managers with non-conformance investigations as needed.
  • Monitor and manage site chemicals, including stock replenishment.
  • Oversee hygiene consumables, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Ensure COSHH compliance, maintaining chemical lists and safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Maintain hygiene traceability records and support audits or customer inquiries as required.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an individual with the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in hygiene management within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP and COSHH (qualifications desirable).
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety Management.
  • Previous people management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
